Longyearbyen is surrounded by mountains raising from almost 0 masl to just above 1000 masl. About 30 minutes of driving will give us access to a great number of slopes and plenty of opportunities to get up to 1000 vertical meters in a run.  On the map to the right, you can see the area we can pick from on a daytrip with snowmobile from Longyearbyen.

Even though you shouldn’t expect to find the best snow in the world on Svalbard, the help of the snowmobiles and the many aspects of the slopes give us good opportunities to find the best snow available. Many of the mountains are granted with a breath-taking view of the surrounding landscape and the occasionally ice-covered fjords. The snowmobiles give us the opportunity to explore areas with little or no traffic, and we will together make the plan for the day based upon the weather, snow, avalanche conditions and your experience. We never sell a certain mountain in advance because we always will try to find the best possible snow under safe conditions and suited to your wishes and abilities.

You can drive your own snowmobile if you have a car, motorbike or snowmobile drivers license. We will make sure that you get good instruction and a safety brief before we leave. We will also provide you with the proper clothing for the transport. If you do not have a drivers license or feel very uncomfortable about driving, we can arrange for you to join as a passenger.

The guide meets you in the morning and you go together to our facilities for a briefing on weather, snow and avalanche conditions and we plan the day. We do an equipment check before you get equipment from us. An instruction in how to drive and we are ready to head out for a fantastic experience in Svalbard’s wilderness. The duration of the tour varies depending on the chosen route but we plan for a full day.

Since we plan the trip together and that your experience and ability is guiding our plan for the day you don’t need much experience with ski touring, but you need to have normal good physical condition.

We prefer to do this kind of tour when we have sufficient day light and maybe some sun this tour is available from March 25 to May 15. (earlier on request)
