Itinerary:
Early on day 1 we start from Longyearbyen. After you have been given survival suits and received some instructions, we take off out the Adventfjord, heading for the inner part of the Isfjord. What destinations we decide on, will largely depend on the weather and sea conditions.
Conditions permitting, we will go into the Billefjord, where a lot of nature and culture await. We will find a suitable place to set up camp, have a bonfire
and enjoy a nice dinner, hopefully accompanied by the midnight sun.
After a good night’s sleep, we will continue to the bottom of the Billefjord to the powerful glacier Nordenskioldbreen that calves into the sea. We will spend some time at the front of the glacier in the hope of seeing it calve. Maybe a seal will pop its head out of the water to observe us while we staying there, enjoying the amazing landscape
We will continue our adventure by going to the former Russian mining-town Pyramiden that is like a ghost town in the middle of the artic wilderness. Here we will go ashore and explore the town a bit.
After a day filled with experiences, we return to the camp for yet another nice evening
On the last day we will take down our camp and aim for Longyearbyen, but this is not the end of our experiences. We will pass Skansebukta, a small lush bay by a canyon, with a closed-down PLASTER mine and a lot of birds. Here it is also possible to find sea fossils, several hundred million years old, that you are allowed
to take with you.
We emphasize experiences of nature and, conditions permitting,
will make several stops at bird cliffs.
